LumaBase Brand Review

LumaBase is an American brand of lighting products based in Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1989 by family who wanted to improve on the luminarias they were using to decorate for Christmas. Their main product in luminaries, but they also have an extensive line of lanterns, real and LED candles, and various other lighting products.

LumaBase products are widely available In brick and mortar locations and online. Their products tend to be priced in the mid to upper range compared to similar products.

Natural Motion Flame LumaCandle

LumaBase has a patented flameless LED candle they call LumaCandle. This candle seems very similar to the dancing flame candles sold by Luminara. A real flame effect is created by having a moving wick that has an LED light shining on it. Individual LumaCandles are available for ~$25-$30. See the video below for an example:

Competing Brands

LumaBase is a well respected brand sold in many retail locations. Their products are definitely not the cheapest or most expensive, but are priced in the middle to upper range of competing products. For example, the premier flameless candle brand is Luminara who sells individual pillar candles for $40-$50. LumaBase’s top-of-the-line LumaCandles are $25-$30 each, while many smaller brands (like Elysian Lanterns, wink wink) sell sets of 3 candles for $20-$25 which is $7-$8 per candle.
