How to Set the Timer on Flameless LED Candles

Generally, there are three different types of timers used in flameless LED candles:

  • Fixed Time – The candle is equipped with a timer of one duration (five hour is possibly the most common). The timer is most often set using a 3-way switch on the bottom of the candle.
  • Variable Time – Some candles (such as those from Sterno Home) have a timer that that can be set from 1 to 24 hours. These types of timers are set using one or two buttons, and it can be unclear how to set the timer without instructions.
  • Remote Controlled – Some candles have a timer that is set using a remote control. Many of the standard remotes for flameless candles have the capability to set timers at different durations (4 hour, 8 hour, etc.) The images below show the typical remotes that may have come with your flameless candles. They all pretty much work the same.

How To Set a Simple Fixed Duration Timer

The most common type of timer is a simple fixed duration timer that can be set using a 3-way switch on the bottom of the candle. The timers have a variety of durations, but 5 hour seems to be the most common. To set one of these timers, follow these steps:

1. Look at the switch on the bottom of your candle and it will probably be labeled ‘On-Off-Timer’. It is less common, but there are also two ways switches such as ‘Off-Timer’.

2. Timers will come on at the same time each day. If you want your candle to come at 4:00 pm each day, wait until 4:00 pm to set the timer. Once it’s 4:00 just move the switch to ‘Timer’. The candle should come on and stay on for the duration of the timer (4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, etc.). If the candle has a 4 hour timer the candle should stay on from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm then shut off until 4:00pm the next day.

3. To reset the timer or turn it off, move the switch to ‘on’ or ‘off’. The timer will no longer be active, and if you move the switch back to timer it will start a new timer at the current time.

How to Set a Variable Duration Timer On Your Flameless Candle

1. Variable duration timers are less common and are more complicated to set. There is likely to be more of a difference in how to set them, but these instructions will assume you have a candle that just uses one button to set the timer.

Just push the timer button on the remote that corresponds to the time you want the timer to run for. For example, if you want the timer to run from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm then push the 4 hour timer button at 4:00 pm.

Below is an instruction video for a 2 button variable timer on a Candle Impressions brand candle. Most variable timers will work similarly to this.

How to Set the Timer for Your Candle Using a Remote

2. Once the candle is ‘On’, use the remote the turn on the timer. Some remotes may have different durations of timers available. Timers will come on at the same time each day. If you want your candle to come at 4:00 pm each day, wait until 4:00 to set the timer. Just push the timer button on the remote that corresponds to the time you want the timer to run for.
